JCTA Survey Takes Aim at Berman

The Jefferson County Teachers Association recently conducted a survey of JCPS teachers to assess their opinions of Superintendent Sheldon Berman and the results are posted at Page One Kentucky. The anonymous survey drew nearly 1,000 respondents at all levels of teaching and looked at overall satisfaction with Berman's performance and a host of specific areas.

The results seem to reflect the tensions between Berman and JCTA, including at least one major area where Berman was clearly in the right.

Some snippets:
  • 57.1% either disagree or strongly disagree that they are satisfied with the current administration. Only 31.6% agree or strongly agree.
  • 60% disagree/strongly disagree that Berman exhibits effective leadership that fully supports them as a teacher.
  • 76.2% agree/strongly agree that they feel safe in their school.
  • 59.9% disagree/strongly disagree that Berman involves classroom teachers in a collaborative decision making process.

Much more.
