Girl accused of plotting murder sues schools

Last month, two middle school students and 19-year-old Seth Ryan Woods were charged with plotting to kill a 13-year-old middle school student.

Police arrested the three teens, charging them with conspiracy to commit murder.

The investigation began after a parent called in a tip to Kammerer Middle School, saying there was a possible death threat against one of its students, school officials and police have said. During an investigation, Louisville Metro Police detectives determined that Woods and the two girls had allegedly been plotting since March to kill their intended victim, police said.

Now the mother of one of the students has filed a complaint against Jefferson County Public Schools, saying she was unlawfully expelled from Kammerer Middle School and put into an alternative school after her arrest.

Go figure.

This from the Courier-Journal:

A 14-year-old charged with plotting to kill another middle school student has filed a complaint against Jefferson County Public Schools, saying she was unlawfully expelled from Kammerer Middle School and put into an alternative school after her arrest.

The complaint, filed Monday in Jefferson Circuit Court by the teen's mother, alleges the student was moved out of her advanced classes at Kammerer and into a school for children with behavioral problems that is "drastically different," with "inferior educational opportunities."

In the complaint, the teen requests that a Jefferson circuit judge allow her to finish
the school year by taking her Kammerer classes from home and enter a less restrictive high school next year...
